How to get into the beach style life in Playa Santana, Nicaragua

You would like to surf or do yoga in your trip with us? No problem!

We have all those activities to offer you on Santana Beach, and much mas!

Boat trips

We can arrange a boat trip to go fishing or to go surfing one of the remote beaches around like Playground or El Peñon.

Tide pools

On the left side of playa Santana you’ll find tide pools accessibles at mid and low tide, where you’ll be able to relax and enjoy still water to refresh without struggling in the waves. And at sunset they form a beautiful mirror for the sky and make great pictures!

Horseback riding on Playa Santa

Let us organize a nice horseback riding for sunset on the beach.

Chacocente wildlife center

Chacocente or Refugio de Vida Silvestre Río Escalante is a wildlife refuge located 30mn driving north of Monoloko Lodge. The reserve is 17.8 square miles and has a beach that is 7.5 miles long. Chacocente is part of the Sistema Nacional de Áreas Protegidas (National System of Nature Reserves in Nicaragua) (SINAP).

Chacocente protects its flora, fauna, and biodiversity while letting visitors experience a tropical paradise. There are many outdoor activities to be enjoyed at Chacocente, such as hiking, camping, birding, and surfing. Some of the tours include: sea turtle sightings, animal sightings, visiting community farms, hiking the Rio Escalante, and thermal waters.

El Astillero

El astillero is a nice fishermen village located 20mn driving north from Monoloko Lodge. It has a beautiful black sand beach with calm waters and a fish market where you can buy fresh fish directly from the fishermen when they come back from sea.

In El Astillero you can also visit the Casa Congo project which is a non-profit organization based on empowering communities with skills and resources for sustainable development. They also protect sea turtles from poaching, plant trees and much more!
